‘Through Local Eyes’ – New online promotion from Tourism Central Otago

A new online video project to capture local personalities sharing their knowledge and love of Central Otago has been launched by Tourism Central Otago (TCO).

The aim of the new project is to create a series of videos focussed on the key elements and experiences that make Central Otago such a special place to visit. To kick the series off, local mountain biking personality Phil Oliver can be seen showcasing the single-track mountain bike trails at Flat Top Hill near Alexandra.

Subsequent videos in the current series will see other locals sharing their thoughts on what makes Central Otago a great destination for all types of cycling.

“Central Otago is one of the premier/leading destinations in New Zealand for cycling experiences. We’re well known for the Otago Central Rail Trail, but many people don’t know the depth and diversity of cycling options across our region. To maintain our position as a key destination it is important that we recognise and highlight the diverse nature of experiences, and maintain regular contact with the cycling market through key mediums,” says Anthony Longman, Digital Marketing for Tourism Central Otago.

Plans are also being made for future videos that could highlight other regional attractions and locations including our wine and food, walking and running trails, events, arts and culture.

By producing this content as a series of videos TCO will be able to push content out across multiple platforms to ensure continuity of exposure and direct viewers back to www.centralotagonz.com/through-local-eyes for additional information.

To complement the videos TCO is using written material and images to build a series of interesting and inspiring stories of Central Otago’s personalities and locations. The content will be distributed online through key social media platforms and supplied to targeted media for publication.

“We are fortunate to have superb landscapes and passionate locals here in Central.  Video is a great way of showcasing what’s on offer here and by enabling our people to share their stories about what they love to do in the region we hope to attract like-minded people to come and see what we are all about” Anthony said.
