Business Judging Panel

The 2017 Central Otago Awards are judged by a panel of well-respected and impartial judges. Here are the profiles of the judges for the Business Excellence, Young Professional and Apprentice Awards.

Glenys Coughlan

Glenys leads the Tourism Central Otago team, including the i-SITEs. When she’s not at her tourism desk Glenys works as General Manager of Central Otago Winegrowers Association (COWA) and she also holds a couple of external directorships.

Glenys has extensive international, national and regional experience in tourism development and marketing having worked across a range of executive, governance and consulting positions. Glenys has a strong background in public relations and event management and was most recently CEO of Positively Wellington Venues.

Tara Druce

Tara Druce runs a research and planning consultancy, Druce Consulting, based in Central Otago. She has a background working for central government in public policy and research in Wellington. Since moving to Central Otago ten years ago, she has worked on business, tourism and community development projects within our region and beyond.

Tara coordinates the Regional Business Partners Programme for the region and is an organiser of the Central Otago Export Forum. She is also a Trustee of Alexandra Community House and the Central Otago Community Arts Trust. She lives in Alexandra with her husband and three daughters.

Cam Dykes

Cam is a chartered accountant and director of ICL Chartered Accountants, Alexandra. During his 25-year career he was worked in a range of accounting and financial management roles allowing him to get a good understanding of what makes a successful and sustainable business. He works with a range of farming and commercial clients throughout Otago and also assists with business start-ups.

Out of work involvements include the management and coaching of high school rugby and cricket teams, also charitable work including the Dunstan High School Board of trustees.

Stuart Heal

Stuart was CEO of CRT for almost 20 years before choosing to come to live in Central Otago in the mid-2000s. He is now a full time company director covering many different industry sectors. He is chairman of Pioneer Energy, a director of Pulse Energy and a director of Southern Generation Partnership ΜΆ all in the energy sector.

He is chairman of WellSouth Primary Health network, chairman of the University Bookshop Otago Ltd, a director of a forestry company IFS Group Ltd, a transport company, Road Transport Logistics Ltd and a director of the Southern Rural Fire Authority. He has recently finished a term as chairman of NZ Cricket.

Alex Huffadine

Alex is Head of School for the Central Campus of Otago Polytechnic. Alex still teaches on a range of programmes and leads the Campus operation. As Otago Polytechnic's Market Manager for South and Central Amercia, Alex spends considerable time consulting in this region each year.

Away from work, Alex is a farmer and cherry grower in the region, and is a final term trustee on the Central Lakes Trust.
