Unfortunately, Statistics NZ has changed the level at which it reports income and we have no current or relevant information on the income levels specific to Central Otago.
However, the median weekly income is reported at a regional level.

As can be seen, the income levels of Otago caught up rapidly in 2009 and 2010 as the major centres experienced a major slow down.
However, the effects of the slow down were felt in Otago last year, seeing the median weekly income decline.
Traditionally, the median income of Otago has lagged in part due to the high number of low income earners in Dunedin (university students). Queenstown especially and to a lesser extent Central Otago have higher median incomes. It is possible that the average wage in Central Otago is in line with the national median.
One characteristic of Central Otago incomes is the lack of extremes extremes in terms of low and high incomes as compared to the national average.
