Otago Polytechnic’s philosophy is to provide hands-on experience and real life knowledge from highly qualified and experienced industry professionals in the way that best suits the student's lifestyle.
Our Central Otago campuses offer qualifications in areas including horticulture, viticulture, business, hospitality and snow sports. We offer the only Sports Turf Management course in New Zealand and the only stone masonry programme in the world. Designed to be relevant to the environment of Central Otago, they reflect the wide variety of occupations and leisure preferences of its people.
We offer full time, part time and short courses with options for distance and on-line study. Our courses offer learning options that are accessible to all and fit with home, work and lifestyle choices.
We also host the region’s Centre for Sustainable Practice, which was developed in response to concerns in Central Otago about sustainable development. The centre provides training for businesses in sustainable practice and showcases sustainable products and services.
Our students come from all over New Zealand (and the world) to experience the lifestyle and leisure activities in Central Otago. While studying here they can begin their careers as there are ample opportunities for work.
