Waipiata Development Committee

Our group:
The Waipiata Community Development Committee seeks to enhance and promote this part of the Maniototo and to work towards preserving the special sense of community we enjoy here through disseminating news and information, through community events, and joint working bees. We also work closely with other groups in the community. It is important to our community that the environment here is protected, that our water is clean, and that the unique landscapes of this region are cherished.
Current projects include preparing a collection of local stories to preserve some memories of the people who have lived here. We are planning signs to display something of our heritage and to give information, as well as a brochure to guide the many visitors who come here while experiencing the Rail Trail. This publicity material is making use of the brand to ensure we play our part in establishing a regional identity.
