The name of Maniototo's community trust radio station was chosen for many reasons. The main inspiration was its link to our land, with place names such as Kyeburn, Gimmerburn and Wedderburn. Scottish for stream, 'Burn' links too with our strong Scottish heritage.
As the streams of Central Otago nurture our people, our stock and our land, we at “Burn” too strive to link us together, working to nurture and feed our communities with all that our land and our people have to offer.
Branding alongside the (at the time) newly formed Central Otago – A World of Difference brand is a decision we have never looked back on. We continue to address and assess the values and ideas behind “the Burn” and Central Otago – A World of Difference brands.
By respecting others, learning from our past, protecting our heritage and showing a sustainable difference – Burn 729am shows integrity and gives the Central Otago – A World of Difference - principles strength and acknowledgement at grassroots level.
We are a station of difference in a world of difference.
