Central Otago District Council

Central Otago District Council (CODC) is the local authority for this District. Our role is to help build local community capability through the many services and activities we provide on behalf of this community. These range from facilitating community to help itself to providing drinking water, roading and wastewater, to libraries, parks and reserves to cemeteries, visitor information centres, dog control and resource management so that the community can achieve its aims.

CODC includes the brand and design concepts on most of its public documents, for example the rates newsletter, Council and Community Board agendas and advertising material. It also installed signs at the district’s entrance ways to signal to all they are entering this world of difference.

Like other brand users, Council considers the regional identity principles as guiding values in all our work. It also takes a destination management approach so that both those that live here and those that visit here have a quality experience. It does this by listening to and understanding the vision and values of our communities. Working alongside local communities and other agencies means that together we can make Central Otago a great place to live, work and play.
