Southern Lakes Guide Service

Fishing in Central Otago is a world apart from the lush paddocks, green bush and soft air in Southland.

Different also to the mountain ranges and snow fields of the Southern Alps, or the dense rainforest and peat coloured streams of the West Coast, or the Canterbury Plains’ braided rivers. And yet these areas all border us.

We tell people our regional logo and brand say it all - big blue skies with amazing cloud formations and space - so much space we can take time to stop, look and listen.

We have space on our roads to pull over and watch the bush falcon swoop along a ridge.

We can lie amongst the golden tussocks and listen to the skylarks.

We can spend sunny days 4WD driving or walking as we fish mountain streams or still waters set amongst hills with awesome rock formations.

Combine those pleasures with the tussle of a lazy brown trout, or the splash and silver glint of leaping rainbow, or the power of the sea-run salmon and you will know we have something special.

Tread softly over the land and protect our resources. Practice where possible 'catch and release'.

Come with us and we will show you...
